Background

 Since 2018, Sol Mobil LLC has offered a unique, no-nonsense approach to electric bikes. While most ebike shops only offer electric bikes, parts & services with help from their chosen manufacturers, we rely on our comprehensive understanding of light electric vehicles to investigate, identify, and then address the root cause of the issue without any additional help. So if, for some reason, your vehicle's original equipment manufacturer (O.E.M.) isn't able to provide replacement components, then we will source it for you from one of our other suppliers instead. In ~8 years of offering repairs and custom services on (mostly) ebikes, we've never seen one that we weren't able to repair after a thorough diagnostic has been completed.

But just because we can fix it, that doesn't mean that we should. Through the diagnostic & repair process, we often come across repairs that aren't worth fixing financially - in that case, you can simply decline the repair, or leave it with us as a trade in towards a new e-bike. 

Please note that repairs completed in our unique way are usually considered custom ebikes afterwards, and are no longer covered by your ebike's previous warranty. While we do offer a limited lifetime warranty on all of our electrical work, the warranty does not extend to any of the mechanical parts of your bicycle (or trike, etc)

What started as a simple side gig has grown into a robust network of bike shops and resources all over North Carolina, capable of assisting with even the most nebulous and demanding troubleshooting tasks on some of the wildest ebikes, trikes, and velomobiles in the world. So much so that it needed to be split off from the parent company.

So that's exactly what we did. From 2018 until 2024, we carried out these services directly at our little warehouse space in Winston-Salem, a former tobacco sorting facility turned EV skunkworks right off of Trade St. Over those first 8 years, we grew from a small wheelbuilding & repair shop into the premier trike, velomobile and solar ebike shop in the southeast. We are also known for conversion kits, recumbents, and custom-made replacement batteries. Fast forward to 2025 - after 8 years of this, we had seriously outgrown our old space, and decided to stop taking new work at our old Oak St. location in order to rethink our organizational strategy going forward.

And man, was that time well spent! 

Now in 2026, we have returned to the world wide web in order to offer repairs & custom ebikes in not one, not two, but FOUR great locations across North Carolina in order to best serve you long into the future. New solar bike products and accessories from our site will also be available at these retailers in the coming future. These shops have agreed to partner with us in order to best offer our world class repair & custom services to customers in North Carolina, along with our forth coming solar bike products. This way, we are able to more easily interact with people, while allowing our highly skilled, but specialized EV technicians to focus on doing only what they're best at. 

This new supplier-type arrangement has freed us up to offer only the best quality work, while at the same time, allowing us to take full advantage of the strengths that these local, community-focused businesses provide.
